i am bad for morale
my coworker lorene just came into my office and commented that it is not cheerful enough. i have toys all over the place! how is that not cheerful?
we have whiteboards on which we right down our numbers* and she thinks i should have a positive, uplifting quote on it. the numbers are depressing, so i guess i see her point. plus, i don't want to bring everyone down, i guess. do you have any suggestions? right now i just have a quote from bert (& ernie), but it isn't particularly uplifting. just "i love paperclips!" what would you write on my whiteboard?
* number of girls. we are down. there is a quota we have not met.

Try something like "Yay! I didn't kill myself today!" See what they think of that.
I feel like you have two options. You can put quotes that almost sound uplifting, but are actually vague and confusing:
Example:
"Joy is unmasked sorrow."
Or you could google "uplifting quotes" and put one on the whiteboard each day.
Example:
“The best thing about being a woman, is the prerogative to have a little fun!” (shania twain)
Or you can always just go with the old stand-by:
"Hang in there, kitty."

I always like: "Pobody's nerfect!"
How about "Always look on the bright side of life" I'm guessing they won't get the Monty Python link... You could draw a big smiley sun too, with sunglasses on, which would show your enthusiasm for the sunshine committee. These stories, though undoubtedly excruciating to experience, are very funny, so thanks for sharing. Your pain is our amusement. You could write a book or play about your experiences, or contribute to the demotivational posters at www.despair.com
